Here is the server window which is how Internet DJ Console (IDJC from now on) connects to the internet. It is also where the off-line recorder lives. This feature allows you to make podcasts. Anyway the bulk of the window is taken up with the Server side of things, and if you have access to a SHOUTcast® or Icecast server you should know what to type into these boxes.
The Connection frame is concerned with the actual connection details, and everything you type in this box needs to be correct if the connection attempt is going to succeed. Firstly the connection Type refers to the type of server you are attempting to connect with. I suggest that if you are not sure that you try each one in turn as there are only three. The Hostname and Port number should be familiar to you, but for Icecast servers there is also the Mount point and Login username. If you don't know the Login name, try source (it is the default login name of an Icecast server). Finally Pass is an abbreviation of password.
The Encoding frame is for setting the bitrate and format of the transmission of which you can choose between Ogg and MP3 and a wide selection of bitrates. There is also a high quality mode for MP3 which uses more CPU.
The Stream Info pane is fairly self explanatory apart from the Metadata box which has to do with the format of the song title text that is sent to the server when the song changes. You can override this by typing your own text in this box, and pressing the Update button.
The Send Metadata checkbox, when selected sends the song title information to the server automatically when the song changes. Make Public causes your radio station to be shown on the www.shoutcast.com website. It will not show up immediately and I honestly haven't verified that this even works.
Regarding the recorder. Here we have a red Record button, and a black Stop button. On the opposite side is the regular black Pause button, and the yellow Automatic Pause button which will enables the Record Autosuspend feature (see the Prefs window for tuning this feature). You enter the filename you want to save to in the Filename box, and you have the option to tag the file with the Artist and Title boxes.
The feature next to the Server-Connect button is an automatic shut-off that will disconnect you from the server at the time you specify provided that it is a valid twenty-four-hour-time.
